Prolific Death Metal Underground commenter Rainer Weikusat submitted a video of Massacra playing live in Sweden in 1990 in the comments of a recent article. Rainer pointed out the sound and video quality is not great but is tolerable enough to watch if you are familiar with Massacra’s material.
The Mortal Horizon is Desecresy’s first album as a solo project of Tommi Gronqvist’s after vocalist Jarno Nurmi left to focus on Serpent Ascending. Picking up right where Stoic Death left off, The Mortal Horizon is band’s most percussive and violent yet. The album takes after the death metal debut Arches of Entropy but is set into the multi-layered, ritualistic minimalist narratives of Desecresy’s later career.
Black Sabbath have an upcoming concert film of their last ever show hitting cinemas for one night only this September. The End of the End is coming to about 1500 theaters on September 28th and includes live in the studio footage of Sabbath playing material that they did not cover on their final The End tour. Hammerheart Records is reissuing Master‘s second album, On the Seventh Day God Created… Master, on both CD and LP. Get the CD digipak as it contains the Speckmann Project as a bonus disc. Leave the vinyl with the same sound for the hipsters.
The English translation of Tero Ikäheimonen’s comprehensive Finnish black metal book, Pirunkehto – Suomalaisen black metallin tarina, is coming out September 15th on Svart Records with the English title The Devil’s Cradle. The book features interviews and career retrospectives of Beherit, Impaled Nazarene, and a bunch of other bands who do not count and have no reason to be in the same book as they suck and play crossover thrash with high-gain guitar pedals and RAC/oi themed pop-punk . These modern black ‘n’ roll bands aren’t even from the same era; they are just poseurs.
According to The Daily Dot, 1970s heavy dark rock with metal influences band Dream Machine has been dropped by its label, Castle Face Records, for “controversial” statements regarding feminism and immigration.
Blood are playing their first ever American show in Seattle, Washington thhis fall on November 18th. Apparently Demoncy and a Seattle area promoter met up with them in Germany and convinced them to fly to the states for a one-off gig. Will Demoncy open for Blood? This is a can’t miss show for Pacific Northwest headbangers!
Bill Ward, the original and best drummer of Black Sabbath, is selling off all of the old drum kits and gear he no longer plays including over 150 kick drum heads he accumulated over the years. Ward says he only still plays his favorite stuff and is happy to see the rest of it go to drummers or collectors who will actually use or appreciate it.
Samael released a new lyric video, “Angel of Wrath”, from their upcoming Hegemony album which comes out October 13th on Napalm Records. Once again do not buy it. “Angel of Wrath” is boring black ‘n’ roll bullcrap for goth girls who discovered Disturbed and Agalloch. Samael need to quit even pretending to make metal music. Samael now pretend to play metal like how little boys pretend to cook and shave like fully grown adults. Samael need to grow up and get a life. “Metal” clearly is not suiting them.
Swedish metalcore band The Haunted premiered a new music video, “Brute Force”, this week on Youtube. “Brute Force” comes off their upcoming record which you absolutely should not buy if you have an IQ over 100, Strength in Numbers, which comes out August 25th on Century Media. This song sucks and sounds like a melodic hardcore band trying to play 1980s speed metal and failing miserably.
