Incantation
The Forsaken Mourning of Angelic Anguish
[Repulse]

Wow....the newest release by Incantation is a violent orgy of speed, destructive riffs, and vile sounding vocals (although they don't sound quite as brutal as in the past). And you know what? It all works together perfectly, and because of that, creates the bands finest release since "Onward to Golgotha". The 7 songs (well, one of those tracks is an outro) over the course of the twenty or so minutes on this disc simply destroy in every way imaginable. The drums are as tight and blasting as ever, really great sounding (albeit a tad bit unoriginal) riffs flow cleanly all over the place...and the vocals...ahhh...the vocals...they sound really nicely done, although I can't help but complain that they aren't as brutal sounding as in the past. Comparisons can as usual be made to Immolation...maybe even Mortician..but Incantation destroy your eardrums in more of a tight, violent, and straightforward style. Well done and melodic solos are entwined with the speed, and some of the harmonics used create a fairly cranky piercing sound, bringing to mind images of...Immolation. To sum this up in a fairly unoriginal way: Purchase this. Incantation are proud upholders of brutal death metal, and should be respected for that. The music here is bloody grand, and makes me look most forward to the upcoming "Diabolical Conquest" on Visceral. Great packaging adorns this particular release as well.
