Tulus
Pure Black Energy
[Hot]

The first thing that caught my eye seeing this CD is how silly the cover is. If you've ever wondered what Pipi Longstocking (actually "his" name is Sarke) would look like at the age of 85 look no further:). Upon inspecting the inside of the booklet, I noticed that the lead singer/guitar player Blodstrup looks quite similar to the villain "Egghead" from the classic Batman series, and that Gottskalk, the bass player looks somewhat like a drug-induced version of the American actor Tommy Lee Jones. The music though..... Excellent really!-I was quite surprised to tell you the truth-although at times somewhat boring and repetitive, these guys definitely have a working formula. Vocals are excellent, somewhat reminiscent of Shagrath's vox on the first Dimmu Borgir album, and there's a great deal of energy behind each song. The stand out track in my opinion is the excellent "Sister's of the Night"-a song that starts out with some lovely (multiple that is) female vox over a guitar and drum beat, followed by the finest BM vox on the album. All of the tracks are quite tight (2-4 min long) yet don't disappoint (including some tracks that contain an excellent cello and/or violin parts to them). I recommend this CD to just about any fan of extreme music out there. You may be occasionally bored, but most definitely not disappointed.
