Incantation
Tribute to the Goat
[Elegy]

As one of the top (easily) of all time American death metal bands, and still a violent force in the genre of death metal, Incantation deserve every last ounce of respect. And it's great to see Elegy releasing some of their older material on CD format, since it sounds incredibly clear and thick. This is a great listen, and worth your money! I just wish some more info had been included in the CD booklet!

From what I can understand, this disc can basically be split up into four parts. The first eight tracks are a studio rehearsal with Mr.Pillard on vocals. They sound fucking great. The bass sound is simply explosive, and the raw drum sound goes nicely with the music. Great songs like "Devoured Death" and "Twisted Sacrilegious…" are included to make this even more of a pleasant listen.

The second part of the disc is what I assume is their first demo. Apparently this is Mr.Rahmer from Mortician on vocals as well, although it's far from being incredibly obvious. Entrantment of Evil is one of the songs included here, and is obviously a good deal more primal and raw than what you'd expect from the classic song heard on "Onward..".

Tracks 11 is what I assume to be a live track. Finally, track four seems to be another rehearsal track with Mr. Pillard. And as I mentioned before, yes, it would have been nice to include some actual track info in the booklet. But beggars can't be blah blah…you at least get the picture.

Incredibly brutal, heavy, and all out amazing are and is what Incantation is all about. What? You haven't heard Incantation? Fuck you! This is some of the finest brutal death metal ever recorded, and I enjoy every last minute of it. Long live mighty band!
