Great death metal here. A minor classic I would say. It's as doomy as it is fast paced. Equal in it's approach, it's like Autopsy decided to pay tribute to Sabbath and the end result kicked ass!!!. This was probably Autopsy's peak performance CD wise. Later stages saw them mired in over the top porno silliness but this one here brings forth a smile of demonic glee. Great musicianship, ultra-tight and just plain great creepy songs ('Twisted Mass Of Burnt Decay', 'In The Grip Of Winter' and 'Dead' just to name a few). It's cover art is striking, a cover that sticks in your mind. It doesn't matter what you think about Autopsy's downfall but this release is one that no true lover of death metal should be without. An added bonus is the inclusion of the Retribution For The Dead EP.
