Funeral
Tristese
[Wild Rags]
There's doom metal, and then there's DOOM METAL - this is definitely
of the second category. This CD just oozes black melancholy all over
everything that happens to fall within it's grasp. While not quite
as unbearably slow as Thergothon (the absolute masters of this genre
if you ask me), it comes about as close as anything else I've ever
heard. My Dying Bride ? Anathema ? Forget it - those bands don't
even come close to this (unless you were to spin them at 16 rpms).
Fans of Thergothon, Unholy, etc should especially take note. 3
tracks, 40 minutes long (10:38, 18:29, and 10:24 respectively), with
some acoustic classical guitar intro and outro's to help lure you out
of you lull long enough to take notice that another song has
started...
I've heard this isn't exactly the easiest CD to find anymore and that
it's been out of print for quite a while (with no plans to repress it
- apparently something about the band having no interest whatsoever
in having this re-released...could be rumours, could be truth - I'm
merely passing along what I hear)...but for what it's worth, your
search will not be in vain once you have this monstrosity of an album
in your hands...
