Isa
[Frowz]

Isa (the name for the nordic rune "I", it means ice) is the first effort from this "black metal" band, based in Québec. Well, effort is a word that souldn't be used here, because there's nothing good on this mCD. This is not bad either, but I have heard BM like this a thousand times before. The band claims to play "true nordic metal", and they are right, they have a very scandinavian (norwegian) sound. Totally unoriginal. There are three songs, and each one is 7min or more. The riffs, which reminds me old Immortal, are repetitive, you can hear them through the whole hymn, so it becomes quickly boring. The drumming is pretty normal, there's nothing special with it. And about the vocals, they are, like everything else from this band, unoriginal : they are almost the same as Abbath's vox from Immortal, but not as good.

This mCD is not totally bad, it's just overdone. The third song is pretty good, even if a bit too long..

Another thing... it has nothing to do with the music, but these guys are total posers. The singer names himself "Vargr" (hum, it reminds me someone from Norway...), they look like fucking clowns and claim to "just want to talk non-sense about 'dark' things"... Oh, and they are not from Canada (or Québec), they say to be from Vinland, to look more scandinavian. Their asses will got kicked soon... fuck these posers, don't waste your money on this release.
