Corvus Corax
The Atavistic Triad
[Dark Symphonies]

Hmmm,'pagan symphonic black metal'. 'Influences range from earlier Ulver and Arcturus, In The Woods and Limbonic Art.' Reminds me of Emperor, but then again I have a plate in my head and everything sounds like The Mod Squad theme if it has keyboards. Black metal is the base of Corvus Corax. They add neoclassical overtones, folk and doom. Not bad. Keyboards are too high in the mix (or so it seems when they sound gay) in these lengthy epics. Can't say I like this or not. I don't mind it. Maybe I have to grow into this album as I mature, donning a bathrobe and slippers, smoking a pipe, hanging out with Zeena Lavey at the Playboy mansion.... don't get me wrong, the guitarwork is cool and ripping, and the songwriting is goddamn trippy, as I imagine black magic rituals, orgies, and the earth bathed in blood, glorious blood...
