Slayer
Live Undead
[Metal Blade]

Slayer's third release (following "Haunting The Chapel" but preceding "Hell Awaits"), this is a (...wait for it...) live recording (as if that wasn't obvious from the title) recorded back in 1984 during the "Haunting The Chapel" tour. The track listing consists of "Black Magic", "Die By The Sword", "Captor Of Sin", "The Antichrist", "Evil Has No Boundaries", "Show No Mercy", "Aggressive Perfector", and the studio version of "Chemical Warfare" rounding out the lot. Each of the songs represented here come out sounding a lot stronger than their studio counterparts if you ask me, so I've always been partial to this release. Highlights are "Die By The Sword" (complete with Tom's unintentionally hilarious spoken intro of "...they say the pen is mightier than the sword...well I say fuck the pen, 'cause you can DIE BY THE SWORD" - makes me giggle even to this day), "Evil Has No Boundaries" (one of my favorite early Slayer tracks...probably because it was the first Slayer track I ever heard), and "Aggressive Perfector"...of course the inclusion of "Chemical Warfare" is a plus, as it's the greatest Slayer song ever bar none...

"Live Undead" is well worth picking up if you're a fan of early Slayer (which you should be) and don't have any strong disliking of live albums (which are for the most part useless in my opinion - this is one of those rare )... exceptions)...
