Medieval
Medieval Kills
[New Renaissance]

Oh no! Another 1987 release reviewed! Medieval released only one other piece of vinyl, an EP with a song or two off this LP, plus three more.

They made the rounds in the mid-80s putting out demo tapes (All Knobs To The Right, etc) and getting fanzine exposure. This is decent Black Sabbath-inspired riffing, but not essential. There are some standout tracks though..."All Knobs To The Right", "Life After Death" "Peter Gunn", "WWIV" and "Death Is Beauty". These songs had me bangin' and playing air guitar many times! Nice thick guitar/bass sound and "normal" raspy to clean singing (I can't stand most Sabbathy bands with a hardcore or death metal vocalist, it just doesn't seem to fit).

The only downside is some songs are too similar to each other - only the notes were changed a bit, or a different tempo was used. There's a slight St. Vitus feel on a couple songs (check "Plague"), but this isn't a doomy album.
