Riot
Rock City
[Fire Sign]

"What the hell is this doing here?!" you may ask ? 1) I consider this part of the NWOBHM scene even though these cats are from the USA, and 2) I like it fuckface! This first RIOT album featured Guy Speranza (vocals, percussion), Mark Reale (guitar, vocals), L.A. Kouvaris (gtr), Peter Betelli (drums, percussion), and Jimmy Iommi (bass) [I doubt he's related to Tony].

This is rockin' metal (metallic rock ?), chocked full of cool riffs. Sort of like Montrose or Ted Nugent, but better! No slow blues here, just upbeat songs about chicks, cars, and well, what else is there??? Why do I get the feeling a lot of thrash bands have heard this - I detect the origin of the "chugga chugga" riff within the grooves of this vinyl. This is on CD finally. Other RIOT fans will say the "Fire Down Under" LP is better, but personally, "Rock City" with its wailing guitar solos and Guy's sort of nasally, sort of melodic singing will be played in my house til I'm old and grey or until I kill myself, or until I kill myself when I'm old and grey.
