Sacrifice
Apocalypse Inside
[Metal Blade]

The 4th and final Sacrifice album. The first track "My Eyes See Red" makes you say "Ahhhh" with Sacrifice's trademark polka drum beats and weird guitar/moshy riffs thrown about. Rob Urbinati's vocals sound just as grindy and tortured as ever. So...why were so many, including myself, not completely satisfied with this?

Hard for me to say really - I don't hate this but rarely do I play it. Solid musicianship, excellent production by the band and Dave Carlo (RAZOR). Maybe the songs just weren't as catchy as on "Soldiers of Misfortune" ? The intricate playing by Rob and Joe Rico was still tight. I know a lot of folks that bitched Sacrifice were getting too slow with not enough fast ditties like "Turn In Your Grave" or "Pyrokinesis" anymore...all I can say is if you like the first two SACRIFICE albums, you'll probably hate this (although "Salvation" reminds me of "Flames of Armageddon")... by the way, Mark Watts (brother of bassist Scott Watts) told me a European label will be re-issuing the first 3 CDs.

For some reason I think Of Megadeth's "So Far So Good..." LP's song writing, mixed with a "Rust In Peace" type production, but not quite.

Sacrifice were a great band and a staple of the Toronto metal scene, but maybe it was a good thing they called it a day with Apocalypse Inside.
