Assassin
The Upcoming Terror
[Steamhammer]

Great cover art (despite being orange and yellow), worthless lyrics (more crossover, yet less annoying than on the follow-up), and of course a metal collage. This album is interesting and worth tracking down on LP simply because of this collage. If you look in the right center, there's a photo of three young gentlemen a few of you might recognize. Fuck! Yes! That is MAYHEM (Nor!)! What could be more obscure than finding a photo of Mayhem from the "Pure Fucking Armageddon" days in a German thrash metal album collage?! As (seemingly) the first person on the internet to recognize this, I deserve a massive reward!!!

Besides that, I can't really recommend picking up "The Upcoming Terror". There's a few tracks, especially the crushing instrumental "Speed of Light", and "Holy Terror" that give the album qualities that allow a person to sit through it. The rather unfitting (raw) production, and misused melodies really do NOT work though, and because of this, "The Upcoming Terror" is a "nothing special" melodic thrash (sometimes early Metallica influenced) album.
