Nox Intempesta
Die Lieder Von Tod Und Ewigkeit
[Folter]

Notice to all bands/labels: quit releasing your CDs in slim cases. Release the recording on a mLP or 7", but don't try to save money by putting CDs in slim cases. Fuck they piss me off! I'll put my money down on a demo or a 7" ANYDAY over a CD presented to me in this format!

Nox Intempesta are yet another band from Germany, and like most modern bands from that country, are still trying to find their metal niche. I've heard their full length "Damnanus Dominum" is a massive improvement over this recording, so I'd attempt to track that down first. For those of you interested in getting your hands on this though, I'd suggest avoiding it.

Mid-paced black metal is what the band are going for obviously, but they seem awfully confused. There's no real structure to any of the songs, and they move along at an unthinkably boring pace. I sat through the entire twenty minutes wishing I was listening to something else (or drinking a beer and staring at the wall). NI also rely on keyboards to create mood, probably because neither the drummer or guitarist know how to come up with interesting riffs. It's so very easy to play three notes on a keyboard, thus creating "a dark atmosphere", instead of actually playing metal.

I'm going to purchase the full length and report back simply because I've heard it really is a good recording, This, on the other hand, is pathetic at best.
