Grand Belial's Key
Mocking the Philanthropist
[Wood-Nymph]

Notable lines/lyrics/titles/comments to be found within:

"Castrate the Redeemer"
"G.B.K. is B.M. F.W.P" (!)
"Even a greater fuck off to all the homosexual scum in 'Ancient', the black glam rock metal maiden" (!!)
"Lyrics: Lord Fag Pussyferian" (in reference to Mr. Vlad who wrote the lyrics for a said song, now in Ancient as everyone hopefully understands).
"Foul Parody of the Lord's Supper"
"Conspicuous Imagery Adorns the Nunery"

The packaging is fucking nifty (included a sticker AND patch!) with all of the above lyrics (which are amazing), and the band photos (really excellent with torched up statues of Mary dripping with blood superimposed) are great; as a side note the double LP is sold out. This is worth tracking down on CD though, as it's quite possibly the greatest black metal recording to ever come out of America, right up there with the band's first demo.

"Foul Parody of the Lord's Supper", very easily the trio's best song to date, starts the 66.6 minute CD out. You won't believe this track! It's really quite stunning just how dark it is, and the solo that breaks up the gloom and doom works beyond proficiently. The metal influence truly shines here...

Of major importance of course are the vocals. No matter what direction he's lead, Lord Vlad's vocals always were very impressive. Cazz (of Crucifier) does a great job here though, leading the music with some seriously harsh vocal assaults.

And then newer tracks like "The Slums of Jerusalem", and "Castrate the Redeemer" rip the place up, reinforcing the fact that the band are here to fucking rule the banal land of black metal. Of course one can't complain with older tracks like "Shamhamforash" and "In Rapture by the Fenrir Moon" (amazing, classic atmosphere), which are fully re-recorded here. From the sheer, ambient, and slow paced hate of "The Seventh Enochian Key" to the ripping conclusion of "The Holocaust Trumpeter", the album is a true black metal revelation. At the same time, it's an insult to have seen the band never go with any real label support (hail Barbarian Wrath for picking them up). Just like their previous work, "Mocking the Philanthropist" is CLASSIC.

"Ashes...Ashes...We all fall down, In ruins lies the Yahweh's Crown...In Flames!"

"Mocking the Philanthropist" gets my highest fucking metal recommendation!!! Now if someone would just find a way to release the demos and 7" on a CD/LP!
