Comments :

Eld, released in 1997, is the follower of 'Frost', the first 'real' album by the Viking Metal kings. In my opinion, 'Eld' is better, more mature. The music is a bit less repetitive, even if the songs are longer. The rhythms are still very fast and the singer's voice is much better, especially on the clean vocals (they are more powerful). Even the keyboards are better, because they really fit with the rest of the music this time, but they are less present.

There are two negative points of this album : the drumming and the production. The drums aren't really bad, but it is a step back when you compare them with those on 'Frost', where the drumming was really incredible (very fast and complex drumming). And the production is weak. When I listen to this, I always feel like if there was something missing.

The lyrics are in Norwegian but, again, they are translated in the second part of the booklet.

Conclusion: Eld is a pretty good album, a bit better than 'Frost', its predecessor.
