And here we have PAGAN WINTER, the latest "sensation" on the German Black Metal scene... I saw them live lately and wasn't too impressed, but there's some points to this CD. I do like the fact they go their own way and put out their CD themselves in the true underground spirit. Musically they rather copy MAYHEM and old DARKTHRONE (at "A Blaze..." times) instead of falling in for the new fashion of gay gothic vampire bullshit. Everything is fucking fast and though that's not really my cup of tea, I respect these guys for mercilessly kicking the listeners ass. They don't win a price for originality obviously, but hey, this is more Black Metal than CRADLE OF FILTH ever were !
