Rampage
Misogyny, Thy Name is Woman
[Unsung Heroes]
This is Rampage's first official full-band release from 1998. It's
24 minutes long and not essential. This in no way compares to Cummin
Atcha LIVE or This End Up. First track, "The Wigglesnake Blues", is
rock n' roll like Eddie Cochran, but with metal guitars. The song is
dedicated to a bunch of chicks, 'plus all the nameless bar bitches and
party whores who said no.'
"Kill Ya Tonite" is yeahmen metal, it's just plain heavy metal, but
weak like the lame numbers off Anvil's debut LP "Hard N Heavy". The off-
key vocals do not suit the pissed off lyrics. I listen to it, even sort
of like it, but you have been forewarned!
"DeadRot" is grindcore death metal in the vein of Repulsion. Pretty
good for that type of thing, but I rarely listen to noise like that any-
more.
"The Round Mound of Rebound" is slower and has a dirty groove to it.
The way the song's written, how Lord Vic sings, and the production makes
this sound like an old unreleased DR.KNOW track! It is really fuckin cool.
"Cocksucker" is a 25 second blast of grind. Useless for me, but this
CD was made for ALL metalheads I guess.
SECRET TRACK ONE: "Deathcrush", originally by The true MAYHEM. Cool
version, no complaints at all, wish all of Misogyny had cool songs like
this!
SECRET TRACK TWO: an alternate version of "Bloody Leg" ends this CD
in a gruelling manner.
As I said, if you're a Rampage fan, you'll get this, but if you aren't
yet, start with "This End Up" or "Cummin Atcha LIVE".
