Orange Goblin
Time Travelling Blues
[Rise Above]

After being a skinhead for about three years, I'm back to my stoner roots. Hair can be a good thing especially in the winter. Reviewing Orange Goblin was a tricky situation for me cause I wonder if it really qualifies for metal. It is heavy even far more then some 'true metal' releases. Anyways whether Orange Goblin are hard rock or metal here we go(you all can argue about that, I got better things to do):

'Blue Snow' - Cool title, great riff, lots of usage of the word 'baby'. An engine is also revved up, excellent track
'Solarisphere' - Solid riff that comes back and kicks your ass after a brief mellow sojourn, some fine soloing present as well
'Shine' - After a pretty gay opening, it gets into some Sabbath inspired action, saves it from immense lameness.
'The Man Who Invented Time' - Best song on the disc. Heavy. Intro is very cool as well , it sounds like it is done by the actor who played Thurston Howell III on Gilligan's Island. If so, fuck yeah. The fast part of the song makes me want to punch somebody in the face.
'Diesel(Phunt)' - Is a decent instrumental
'Snail Hook' - Ho hum... boring 'n' typical
'Nuclear Guru' - Better but not by much, still wankerish
'Lunarville 7, Airlock 3' - I like the wah-wah intro. This rocks ... enjoy it's faster pace.
'Time Travelling Blues' - Ends the disc in fine fashion despite the Lynyrd Skynyrd type begining. Fuck do I ever hate Skynyrd. Good riff and cool solo saves it's ass.
Outro sucks.

Last note - dude can sing and he doesn't impersonate Ozzy, he's alright in me books.
