Forgotten Woods
As the Wolves Gather
[No Colours]

Probably the most obvious of the Burzum clones floating around. This long out of print CD (soon to be re-released in a digipak?) was probably a product of their fairly successful demo on Pagan Recs, back when the band were using the tag "Winter Metal". And it flows at an early Burzum pace: pre-trance and melancholy, but still doom in a rock and roll sort of way.

The album does have some great moments. From the "I can't tell it's not Burzum" vocals on "In my Darkest Visions", to the classic "Dimension of the Blackest Dark" (which later showed up on the Joyless disc) Burzum fans will probably enjoy this. I truly appreciate tracks like "Dimension of the Blackest Dark", but sometimes feel like I'm swallowing whiskey on a sick drunk stomach. Thus, it's hard to digest everything at once, as it gets tired quickly. Still a worthy disc.
