Dark Waters Stir
[Solistitium]

Some Norwegians mentioned to me that this record didn't go over so well in their country because of the silly song titles. As I don't understand Norwegian (ha, I don't even understand NorwegianS), nor do I ever WANT to understand Norwegian, I'll leave that up to the thick headed ones.

What we have here is 'top of the chain' unoriginal Darkthrone style black metal. It really works though, as the band know exactly what they are doing. And the production! Oh the production! It's that perfect, fuzzy, thick as all fucking hell raw production that brings out the drums and guitars perfectly. The riffs are great as well, a less repetitive and slightly more developed 'Transilvanian Hunger' style, if you know what I mean.

Sick vocals (arghhh the distorted spoken part on 'En gjennomratnet Hytte' KILLS), tons of speed, and some excellent riffs that bring you back to the demos that flooded the underground in '92-'93. Sadly, you won't here anymore of that, as most music coming out of Norway today is pseudo-artistic shite that attempts to promote itself as intelligent and unique. Which is a farce in itself.
