Celestia / Draugwath
Evanescence /
The Bottomless Armageddon
[Hungry AK-47]

Celestia's 'Evanescence' demo '97 on split with a new Draugwath demo: Death from the black underground! Can't go wrong, right? Pro-packaging this time around from the AK-47 horde, and it's all very nice and dark looking.

Celestia is of course the band of Mr. Noctu of Drakkar Records fame. Rather straight forward, with a decent keyboard intro and outro. The music is extremely raw and mid to fast paced, with dark, even disgusting vocals gurgling behind the music. This is demo material indeed, but the band is capable of creating some decent blackness, especially with the trance-like bass riff on 'L'Ombre'. I'll check out their mCD ASAP and report back!

Draugwath of course have been featured on LARM! before, and this being their third demo, I'll have to admit I appreciate them even more now. While the second demo didn't quite live up to "Dwellers of the Cursed Forest", this new one (which is called "The Bottomless Armageddon" btw) is some of their filthiest work to date! Musically, everything is raw, fast, and traditional, with MASSIVE vocals. 'Black Snow' and 'Dance of the Red Donkey' are some of their finest moments yet. Draugwath is the true equivalent of what black metal was meant to be indeed!
