Sonata Arctica
Winter Hearts Guild
[Century Media]

So your looking for something a little lighter, more melodic/symphonic, power metal-why not try some Finnish power metal in the vein of Stratovarius & Nightwish. I personally don't indulge much in power metal-but I must admit, the vocal melodies mixed with the skillfulness of guitar is most overwhelming. Too much keyboard for my taste-very over played. 'Gravenimage' is a very emotional tune, vocals are supreme by Tony Kakko-high ranged, other tunez of interest on this ten song release; 'The Misery' & 'Champagne Bath'. 'Draw Me' is very melancholy. Production is flawless-clear as can be. Sonata Arctica was formed in '96 and has released; 'Winter Hearts Guild', 'Ecliptica', 'Successor', & 'Silence', & 'Songs of Silence Live in Tokyo'. Recommended for listeners of: Nightwish, Stratovarious, & Amorphis.
