Amorphis
Tuonela
[Relapse]

Hoooo boy.

Well, I suppose Amorphis decided to kill any death metal that still remained in the their sound, and head in a totally progressive, weak-ass direction.

Yes the band are still good players, and there are about 4 songs that catch my attention, and maybe if I didn't know the band's first two albums I could give this album a positive review.

Pasi Koskinen's vocals did slightly improve since Elegy, but he stills sounds like James Hetfield impersonating power metal. Tomi Koivusarri, who supplied the excellent "cookie monster" vocals on the past three albums, has completely stepped down and now only provides the rhythm guitar and sitar (yes you heard me... sitar).

Its quite shocking to listen to this album and Karelian Isthmus back to back.

Standout tracks: The Way, Greed (this guy is a way better death vocalist than a clean vocalist, just listen to this song), and Divinity

Grade for those too lazy or illiterate to read the review: C-
