Atheist
Unquestionable Presence
[Death]

Even with the death of Roger Patterson, and the addition of bass player Tony Choy (Pestilence/Cynic) Atheist managed to top themselves with this album.

Unquestionable Presence is undeniably musical brilliance that does not get old with multiple listenings (the best type of album). Tony Choy's bass playing is astounding (I still can't believe he only played a four-string on this album), and Steve Flynn's drumming is equally impressive.

My one complaint with the album is Kelly Shaefer's vocals, which weakened a tad. He added a touch of Dave Mustaine to his usual throaty rasp. Still it would take a lot more than that to bring this record down.

Standout tracks: Unquestionable Presence, Your Life's Retribution, Mother Man

Grade for those too lazy or illiterate to read the review: A+
