Suffocation's latest and, sadly, last output is a short outburst of brutal anger. While 'Pierced From Within' had some 'progressive' parts and melodic touch, these five songs are more direct and to-the-point more akin to 'Effigy Of The Forgotten'.

Music is filled with breaks, blastbeats and the occasional sludgy doomy part. The band is playing very tight and deliver their death metal ruthlessly precise with the always impressive level of technicality. As on previous records Frank Mullen's vocals lead the music rhythmically and underneath it all some multiple-armed demon really propels this war machine forward. The drum rolls, cymbal crashes, double-bass work and snare attacks are all over the place... I wonder what this guy was planning to do after Suffocation.

Despite all the technicality of the music it is all very direct and straightforward and leads are nonexistent, except for the brilliant one in the last song 'Catatonia' (that song is also featured on 'Human Waste'). All of it makes up for a highly addictive listen and it makes clear that these guys have stopped at their peak. Hail Suffocation!
