Nåstrond
Age of Fire
[Napalm]

Everyone who liked NÅSTROND’s first album must be warned before they get this second one! At least I should have been warned more, because I was disappointed. Yet most people who liked the first album, for reasons unknown to me, like this one too and some even think that this is better!

Well, this is more complex and industrialized, this isn’t about cold forest black metal anymore, this is about industrial advanced occult philosophical satanic ritual metal. They don’t try to be as much ”art” with it as the later Norwegians, but some sterility has invaded this too, even if it’s still quite brutal. I find it difficult to get past the intellectual boredom that is at large here. There is lyrical material from Bible, from LaVey’s Satanic Bible… in fact, these recitation parts are some of the most working in here and maybe the problem in here is that they should have gone into a more totally ritualistic direction and the metal sounds boring because they are bored with metal. Their own lyrics are fine, within their ritualistic approach.
