Clearly the popularity of Krisiun is opening up the doors for numerous brutal Brazilian death hordes that would normally find themselves unrecognized (you know a trend is in full swing when Hammerheart Records tries to grab a piece of it...). While I was rather surprised to find a CD I paid full price for running a mere fifteen minutes, especially since there's two bands performing on it, I'm not disappointed. Especially since both bands are not only blatantly Satanic, but also translate their violent lyrics into equally violent, yet proficient music.

Ancestral Malediction remind me a lot of the Polish Damnation - so you can imagine there's some Morbid Angel influence here. Dirtier and a good deal faster than Morbid Angel though, with the fitting production making good usage of the brutal music. Riffs aplenty, sick, sick, sick vocals, and a solo or two fill my brutal death metal tummy up full!

Ophiolatry, a quartet of four very pissed off looking hellbangers, stand on top of this split though. Not only do the band look like an angrier version of Deicide, they also SOUND like an angrier version of Deicide. I'm probably not the only fan of the s/t and "Legion", and the two tracks proudly shown off here will bring everyone back to those days. "Breaking the Bones of jesus" (yes! best title since 'Gas the christ"!) sounds like it was literally ripped off of the first track of "Legion" - the only thing missing being bleating goats.

Bottom line: True Death metal, and FUCKING KILLER because of that.
