Abaddon Incarnate
The Last Supper
[Seasons of Mist]

(I assume nobody heard of Belphegor before pulling off the cover art and album title?)

Probably one of the better full on brutal death metal band to ever come out of Ireland - although one can hardly complain about blasting death heathens like Morphosis (who will, after all these years, have an official release thanks to Invictus) and especially spazz legends Ogre (who are still around!). Abaddon Incarnate are a decent live band too, or at least were during the "When the Demons Come" demo days. I question Seasons of Mist signing them though - they're an excellent band surely, but something deep down makes me think that certain Irish bands are getting signed just for the novelty of it. Would the profit sluts at SOM sign the same band if they were from Germany or America? No!

Raw as it gets Death Metal is the name of the game here, and although recorded at Tico Tico (!) like the Geasa album, and mastered at James Murphy's studio (!), the production is pretty much all over the place shite. Generally, with lightly structured death metal, that's not a problem though - and it's not here.

Abaddon Incarnate remind me a tad of Dementor actually, although not quite as full on blast, simply because of the wall of sound generated and non-stop flow of for the most part unrecognizable riffs. There's a clear Autopsy influence in the vocals, solos, and slower bits as well, although don't think for a minute that this band plays around with doom like our favorite keepers of decay though...this is full on brutal and messy.

Well, with just about every band from (the area around at least) Dublin floating around with a record deal, I'm left with an important question: When the fuck is someone going to sign Mourning Beloveth?
