Mourning Beloveth
Autumnal Fires
[Independent]

With every other band in the UK/Irish area trying to sound like (newer) My Dying Bride, it's VERY refreshing to hear some good old fashioned BRUTAL doom death. I've think these guys are from Laois and Kildare, but being so close to Dublin I assume they mange to reap the rewards of the very expanding scene up there. Regardless, Mourning Beloveth are set to rule the world of doom, as they are one of the most uniquely bleak bands to pop up since Skepticism...

Three lengthy tracks make up the demo, and what a perfect unholy trinity of tracks they are. Musically, the band are as raw as you can get - Winter influenced perhaps, but there's also that dark touch of melody used well on the "Epicus..." LP. The vocals are straight from the pits of hell though - and they add such a unique touch to the music that "Autumnal Fires" ends up having that perfectly unhealthy feel you get when you're listening to a doom band who know how to do it right...

With a mCD ('Dust') on the horizon, to be recorded in Academy Studios (?), I dare say this band will be taking the doom/death throne without any effort. I'm just confused as to why nobody grabbed them immediately for a deal...
