This is Ancient's first album that was put out in 1994. This is text book Norwegian blackmetal that still sounds original today. It has a similar production as Darkthrone's "A Blaze in the Northern Sky." But don't mistake this for another Darkthrone clone as Ancient has their own sound. I especially like how some of the songs are connected without any break in between. I'm looking forward to Hammerheart Records' re-release of Ancient's mini album and 7" material on CD. This is some pure cult material... Get it now! 9/10
