Incantation is a very disturbed sounding band, surely one of the sickest deranged evil sounding US death metal bands ever to come across my stereo. Incantation just manages to catch a purely malevolent spirit, and violently twist it unto a mere piece of plastic, it is almost as if the CD drips with pure hate and evil, even before inserting it into the CD player. There is just something that Incantation manages to do that very few other bands has even made anything remotely similar to, this completely sick atmosphere is so omnipresent here that it is amazing, and everything just seems to enhance that particular feel, the riffs which at times are very simple and at times somewhat complex, the twisted vocal work, sure many have done very deep growling, but few has made this inhuman bowel like noise that spews out Incantation's lyrics, like a vicious satanic humwawa. This particular album is somewhat cleaned up compared to their debut, but this functions well for them. Their later works compared to this is somewhat more generic sounding, but still quite far from normal sounding, all Incantation releases are worthwhile, but I should say that this is their prime, and is essential to your collection...
