Not impressed by the band's previous work, I was of course less then excited to pick this up - but it's always good to support small 7" releases.
I'll tell you one thing though, and it's that (the true) Svartsyn have become ten times as brutal and focused as they were in the past. Things fall into place here, and it ends up sounding like TRUE BLACK METAL, rather then a mess of riffs and drumming. Listening to the ultra tight version of 'Goathrone' is great indeed.
Production is raw and messy - but works perfectly (unlike the CD), especially with the distinctly harsh vocals howling over the brutal music. 'Svartsyn invoke cursed Satanic black metal' - and if the continue down this path they clearly will become 'true legends' - rather then another generic band.
Limited to 500 copies.
