Anubi
Kai Pilnaties akis Uzmerks Mirtis
[Danza Ipnotica]

From the same label that released their 7" comes the first full-length from this old and wonderfully strange Lithuanian band. The cover artwork here is truly fitting, and is probably one of the finest 12" covers I've noticed in some time (different then the CD cover indeed). Being hand-numbered and limited to 325 copies doesn't hurt either.

Anubi are a dark, dark band first off. There's nothing straight forward about them whatsoever.

Black metal + progressive metal + opera + jazz + out of this world piano/saxophone/accordion bits = Anubi. There's nothing 'normal' about this band, but there's also nothing 'silly'. The black metal is as dark and raw as it gets, yet with the usage of clean vocals, experimental instruments floating all over the place, and a generally disturbed atmosphere, you'll be paying for something original. If Devil Doll (from the one disc I've heard of the band) were to form a black metal band, and become influenced by some of the more distant Prikosnovenie label folk bands, then they might sound like this. Strange, strange stuff, and probably too strange for these ears.
