Cruachan
The Middle Kingdom
[Hammerheart]

So Cruachan broke up, and then reformed early last year. Honestly, I don't know what they were thinking when they pulled this album together. If a person were to appreciate Antichrisis for example, they might like this album. The rest of us will gag. This is NOT the same band who put out the brilliant (almost legendary!) album 'Tuatha na Gael'.

Now some of the tracks, like 'The Fianna' are above average folk rock, and they'll have you thinking 'hmmm, that's nice'. The ONE track that might remember a person of old Cruachan, 'The Middle Kingdom' is pretty decent and 'rockin too. Vocals are handled by some byrd, and she's an average singer. Run for cover when Keith starts singing though!

Oh, but the bad. The bonus track 'To hell or to Connaught' (ha!) is punk rock basically, and terrible at that. 'Unstabled (Steeds of Macha)' is a punk-ish SKA song. Puke, puke, puke...

Idiocy really. The nationalism is great, the packaging and lyrics wonderful too - but the music stinks.
