Cult Of Daath
The Triumphant Holocaust
[Independent]

I suppose the LARM staff may be pleased to know that when I approached the band's drummer/vocalist Wargoat for this demo and mentioned LARM, he replied that it is the best fucking review site around (I will leave it up to you to decide whether he was being sincere or was just trying to build up some good vibes in order to get a positive review of his band). I also asked him about his band's influences, and he named legends like Profanatica, Beherit and Darkthrone. That should give you some idea of what Cult Of Daath sound like.

Three blasphemous utterings consisting of raw, ugly black metal are on display here. It's nothing earth shattering, but if you approach your black metal with strictly traditionalist mindset, this might be worth checking out. The first track "Wars Of Demonism" combines blasting primitivism of Beherit and raw fury of Darkthrone with a reasonably suitable outcome. So does the title track, but with more emphasis on speed and a couple of breaks. The production is, of course, raw, but not in a shitty way, which is a good thing. The hoarse vocals are somewhat buried underneath the music, but still get the job done. The last song "Worship The Goat" is surprisingly short though. It's the fastest and most straightforward song on the demo, and just as you begin to really get the taste of it, it ends. What's the deal with that?

This is the band's first demo, a touchstone so to say. They should have another one out early next year, so we should wait and see how they develop.
