Botulistum
Wederopstanding der Veenlijken
[Independent]

Now this is the fucking caricature of intense sickness in its purest and most infectious form. Botulistum, a vicious Dutch band formed in 1998 by guitarist/drummer Nachtraaf and vocalist Botmuyl (both members of fellow Dutch monstrosities Ketter and Fluisterwoud), play an insane level of repulsive and fanatic filth that has been appropriately termed "peat metal". The high octave screams and grunts with echo here are simply inhuman, thrust upon a platform of extremely heavily distorted guitars and a machinegun drum machine. Get ready to submit your tape deck to chaos torture.

Wederopstanding der Veenlijken (Resurrection of the peatcorpses) is the band's second demo, and it is damn near impossible to get as only 50 copies were originally produced, so find a fucking tape trader and get yourself a dubbed version of this. 10 maniacal tracks (intro and outro included) will force you to the ground and leave you bleeding. One of the tracks is live and was recorded from the "Crushing the Cradle Festival" in 1998 alongside comrades Heretic and Mordaehoth. All vocals are in Dutch and a one-snared violin (Botmuyl) occasionally trances the picture alongside some haunting classical samples.

Saying that this is not for everyone is heavily understated, and all the more credit to the abhorrent duo for fighting commercial crap and making a truly inspirational demo. Embrace the madness that is Botulistum and revel in the disarray. Now to dig up the split with Christfighter...
