Nunslaughter
Hells Unholy Fire
[Repulse Records/Revenge]

After innumerable setbacks and a constantly mutating list of band members, Don of the Dead has finally thrust Nunslaughter's first full length LP at us after a 13-year stretch of demos and 7" splits. All I can say is that it's about fucking time. These 18 tracks of sheer brilliance are sure to attract some new attention without exiling any of the old fans.

Nunslaughter play fiercely in the old school death vein, keeping the music evil and fast but still leaving a sense of brutality. Vocals are largely in the foreground and come across with stunning force. A few comparable bands might be Autopsy, or Acheron. The tracks are short and sweet, clocking in at an average of about two minutes and leaving the listener with just enough time to get sucked in and left blistering.

Not as primitive and raw sounding as some of the earlier material, Hells Unholy Fire is nevertheless just as powerful. Avid followers of the old style are highly recommended to pick this up. Nunslaughter are spewing with potential and I'm looking forward to many more amazing releases.
