Perverseraph
Savage Messiah
[Gothic]

A good sampling mCD (actually a re-released demo) of a band that Shaitan has thrust full force behind. This is four tracks of fairly aggressive black/death fused together with a lot of intensity and potential. Occasionally the overall speed slows and the reigns are seized by forceful blasts led by upfront guitars, contrary to the distance which one might be accustomed to with many of the black metal bands emerging from the States these days. This combined with clean production gives Perverseraph somewhat of a unique feel.

The band hails from Philadelphia, U.S. (comrades of Blood Storm, from whom they are currently using the drummer, Teloc Coraxo) and are a good addition to a thriving scene. I'm not completely sure of the present line-up but Shaitan (formerly of Necrotion) was doing vocals/guitar combined with fellow guitarist Namtar and bassist Batraal.

Short and not altogether mind-blowing, but a worthy spin once in a while.
