Satyricon
Megiddo -
Mother North in the Dawn of a New Age
[Moonfog]

Another step towards the end of Black Metal. I really don't see why Satyr is raving about mp3s and Napsters since I fail to understand who would even bother to listen to Satyricon after this. One thing is for sure; with this "album" Satyr & his drummer partner Frost have definitely managed to chase away about 98% of anyone who was ever dedicated to this band (including me).

Perhaps a track-by-track slacking of this 4 song piece of horse-leftovers would do the job;

1. The Dawn of a New Age (remix by Apoptygma Berzerk)
This nauseating techno-remix of the first song from Nemesis Divina is maybe the first time I see a band actually shitting on one of their own songs. Yes, Satyr, Frost and A. Berzerk have definitely been all 3 locked-up in the same central lavatory booth when they were getting the inspiration for this one.

2. Forhekset (live in a lavatory)
A live coverage of the second song from Nemesis Divina. The sound quality definitely sucks, but the song itself is good. (This song was made when Satyr had still some talent left)

3. Night of Divine Power (remix of The Dark Castle in a Deep Forest)
This is an other version of a song from "Dark Medieval Times". The sound is good and the keys are more present on this one. It's not bad, but I prefer the original one

4. Orgasmatron
A shitty version of a shitty song from a shitty band. I've never liked Motorhead in the first place, so seeing Satyricon cover one of their songs didn't really generate cries of joy in me. It doesn't get much worse than this.

Overall, this is a lacking, miserably executed display of incompetence and the prime example of how good Black Metal bands suddenly become utter crap. I guess it's no miracle that Satyr & Frost have nowadays these fucking rock-star attitudes towards Black Metal. If you want to hear Satyricon playing excellent Black Metal, listen to "The Shadowthrone" or "Nemesis Divina", otherwise leave this shit alone.

Satyricon R.I.P.

1/10
