International Day of Slayer -- June 6, 2011

People get very cynical about this because International Day of Slayer supporters are the last people on earth working toward something positive. Everyone else is trying to get brownie points for helping the downtrodden, hoping Jesus will save them.

Here's a dumb question:

Which bands did the best covers of Slayer songs?

Personally, I'm going to go for Hypocrisy and Monstrosity.
Piece By Piece (Malevolent Creation)

Hell Awaits (Armoros)

Praise of Death (Sinister)

SADISTIC INTENT

Thank you, to those who contributed.

Also of note, the Slayer press release in official form:

We have a week until IDOS

ALLAHU ACKBAR

I think we got 'em all

Only the ones that were on youtube -.-  What, is a lo-fi garage cover of an old Slayer track played at an even higher speed not good enough for ya?

Panterable in their "salad days" w/ Kerry King playing South of Heaven.....

One of the biggest/most famous/longest-running radio programmes in the UK is Desert Island Discs. Famous persons, broadcasters and world leaders go on the show and nominate their favourite tracks to be stuck on a desert island with.

For I think the first time ever, there is a special People's Choice programme, to be aired on June 11th. Although it seems unlikely you could amass enough support, maybe you could attempt to have supporters fill out the form with the best 8 Slayer songs. Polls close Friday however, so you would have to make an arbitrary selection of the eight songs to list, without too much procrastination.

I tried to put Angel of Death for all 8 but it wouldn't allow it.

So how about the opening and closing songs of the first 4 albums:

1. Evil Has No Boundaries
2. Show No Mercy
3. Hell Awaits
4. Hardening of the Arteries
5. Angel of Death
6. Raining Blood
7. South of Heaven
8. Spill the Blood

And use this or something similar to vote infinitely!

I'm fond of the Acerbus cover of "Angel of Death"

Vader - Raining Blood (live)
I can't believe you posted that shit dude, it's a fucking disgrace. That live performance was weak even by Vaders low standards. They should be honest with themselves and stick to covering Depeche Mode.

Tomorrow is June 6. Plans around here:

* Blast Slayer at morons in traffic
* Blast Slayer at the workers tearing up forest for a new subdivision
* Blast Slayer at the affirmative action cops
* Blast Slayer at churches, synagogues and mosques
* Indulge in warm fuzzy nostalgia for the first five Slayer albums

DRI (!) helped us a good deal on Facebook, where they posted the flier and tagged about 4000000 people with it.

DRI celebrates International Day of Slayer

Keep metal alive, have a holiday for metal, and have Slayer be its emblem!

This worked for me. I just wanted a variety.
