Anything of value has no easy answer, I think. Education holds value, but what are we to do with bumbling masses of kids that are almost unteachable in some cases? What do we do with a popular culture that looks down upon looking smart (and being) or insightful?

The entire issue has many roots. I fear they will never really be addressed.

Secession, group work, etc. The most practical is to build an organization for homeschooling parents to communicate. From there, build a curriculum for two types of students: average students who wish to learn, and the gifted students. Secession addresses the common competent folk, rather than singling out those who can actually take time off to homeschool. "The people" cannot rectify the problem, because most of them are part of it.

I would have no idea what public education is "like" these days, but when I went to grade school and middle school, we still had these old battle axe women that did a good job if you ask me, they were really old school.  that being said, as I got into high school I noticed a lot of newer, younger women teachers that obviously had mental/social/emotional problems.  they were kind of wacky and they shouldn't have been teachers.  a lot of them seemed to have problems with outspoken male students - really weird and totally unprofessional.  where I went to school they actually did more or less separate the gifted kids early on and put them on accelerated paths.  I'm sure it's a different scene these days, and I'm sure it's worse in some areas of the US more than others.  a few years ago I would never suggest that men should become school teachers, but maybe it's not such a bad idea.

There are "honors", "AP", etc. It is not for gifted students. Rather, it is the standard courses + more coursework. Students use these courses to concoct bloated, grandiose applications for colleges. I would know, because I was accepted by a great school. The courses were still fucking boring.

Trying to fix schools directly probably won't work. Start in the home and work our way out.

Developing community infrastructure for home schooling will be crucial, even necessary since the state's ability to even afford education is disappearing anyway.

Owning only one car, dropping the "everyone must travel the world even though we aren't even really familiar with where we come from" attitude, living in a smaller house away from expensive and dangerous urban areas, buying less Stupid Shit, using less energy and alternative energy, and growing, hunting, and foraging some of your own food, can all go towards working less at worthless soul sucking jobs and focusing on things that actually hold value and fulfillment. If your time and your children matter more to you than cable tv, smart phones, fast internet, netflix, weed, beer, and metal records, then you can free up the time from work.

Would it not be a good idea for a few families to get together and form small, agrarian communities based upon a common goal and the idea of raising healthy children outside of declining cities in a natural environment? Home schooling can be done in this way as a bonus. People will be able to support each other by teaching what they know and using the internet/books to learn everything else. Perhaps even getting tutors in for certain things.

Just an idea to kick around.

I agree with this. If secession and travel are not possible, then form local groups. The major issue with this is pure economics. There is not enough demand in most areas to achieve such a group, and in the areas where the demand is sufficient, it is not possible to reach them (large cities).

I've had the same idea except I think the greater difference would be the rightist commune would have rules designed to remove people (jail/exile/execution) who don't meet certain behavioral standards and the leftist commune would have rules designed to prevent people from being excluded or receiving biased maltreatment for their behavior.

I remember even the slackers did really well when something actually interested them. People in this group were selected based on general ability tests.

When grades 9-12 came around, the bright slackers didn't bother with AP, but there was a whole new group of kids that were hard working even though they would need help from my 5-8 classmates when new concepts were being taught. People in this group were selected based on grades.
