Is there anything that doesn't qualify as escapism?

Why don't we get specific about the term in question. To me escapism is the practice of idling like a car with the engine running but the transmission in neutral and therefore going nowhere. People go nowhere in life when they commit themselves too much to one or another form of escapism but too little to advancing themselves. Going nowhere is best case. The pursuit of escapism can degrade one's life and eventually, the lives of those who are adjacent like loved ones or co-workers who have to pick up the slack.

There are times for mental wanderings and fantasy, but if these then block access to reality, it's escapism.

In other words, going to a bar and picking up fifteen giant mestizos for sexual purposes is only escapism if you do it instead of doing things you need to do.

It's all escapism to some degree, until you realize you have nothing to escape from.

A more practical tip: you have to go a little insane before you can discover sanity.

If one enjoys going to the bar with his wife and friends for quality beer and fellowship is one practicing the abomination of escapism?
