Audiofile and Megaupload

Jesus.  In my rush, I didn't even check if the links that were already up were even Megaupload or not.  Well you live and learn.  That will save time tomorrow.

Also remember this:

http://tinyurl.com/olae

I'll just leave this here again, if Transcix or others want to volunteer...
The reason I didn't check the link the first time is because it had "tinyurl" in its URL. I don't have time to check every link someone posts, and if I want to help out metal I would volunteer in other ways to be frank, besides my playlist is only 500 including zero full albums so I don't have much to share. I wish there was more metal for me to enjoy, that would be a welcomed problem!

Why search for this stuff online, don't y'all own it, on CDs or digitally? Why not share it on programs like Soulseek instead of hosting it somewhere? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's any risk sharing files on the lesser-known peer-to-peer things like Soulseek.

generally because these free file hosts are far faster than using p2p.  even if a big one like megaupload goes down, there are so many alternatives it's hardly worth it to resort to something like SoulSeek instead of just finding another free host.  in addition, it's probably "safer" to connect to a third party rather than allowing connections directly to one's computer, even if it's through p2p.  the idea of setting up a private hosting service like a torrent site is a great idea but would require a lot of work to both set up and police.

btw., I'm sorry for not mentioning this earlier, but MultiUpload (http://www.multiupload.com/) and Uploading.to (http://www.uploading.to/) are also really good for archiving since they enable the user to upload to numerous file hosts simultaneously and creates redundancies.

Well ain't that a goddamn bitch.  Quickest solution I can think of, for the time being, is to concentrate on the MAJOR PLAYERS (bands featured on DLA, as Conservationist says, but also, I would suggest the Majors of Classical and stuff like Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and DCD).  Uploading your own stuff is ideal, but you can find a lot of stuff still on Mediafire by searching for 'Band Name' 'Album Name' 'Mediafire' or 'Band Name' 'Album Name' 'Blogspot' on Google.  Then just post the links in a reply like Sammaellofi is doing.  I just found a bunch of stuff on Mediafire for Demigod/Adarmelech in no time, so it's really not a whole lot of work if you go that route.

I'll do Graveland and Lord Wind in a little bit.  I knew that one would be a bitch, so I figured I'd just get it out of the way all ready.

Yeah and I suppose so we're not stumbling over each other, we could use this thread to mention what we'll be working on.  I'll be concentrating on the "A"s in the Alphabetical DLA mp3 index (metal bands) for the time being.

There's a winter storm coming through today and tonight so it's as good timing as any, at least it's not sunny and warm outside.

I'll tell you what.  In that case, I'll start at the Zs, for lack of a better idea, and I'll let you know where I get.  I won't be able to start until tonight, or at least a couple hours.

If you or someone wants to hit Graveland/Lord Wind, though, that's a fine idea.  They're about as important as it gets.

I figure this whole thing is going to be a little chaotic, initially, so whatever happens, happens.  If people want to just find working links or upload a few of their personal favorite albums and/or composers, it's a start.

When I get time this weekend, I will commence cleaning up various threads and recycling the totally trashed ones.  Fun awaits!

Graveland and Lord Wind done.  I think I will change my approach for the 90th time and just start at the last page of Audiophile and choose whatever I think is most important, skipping what As for now.  That way I'll always know where I left off.

Anyone else getting tired of soft core porn ads?  It's my fault for searching with filestube I guess.

Beware. Many files on filestube are password protected.

Beware. Many files on filestube are password protected.

I check for that as best I can, but as I said earlier in the thread, I can't download each file and make sure they are right, but I do my best.  If something is wrong, we can always find an alternate file.

If you aren't going to upload your own stuff, at least look for the files in 320kbps.

You're welcome to look up any kinds of files you want.

For most of these albums though I am only finding one or two files for them and I am only distinguishing them by whether the file is able to download or not.
