The new Lord Wind will be the metal/metal affiliated album to beat this year! Which upcoming 2012 albums might compete for the title?

1. Into Oblivion
2. Demoncy

Anything else exciting coming out this year?

I heard from HHR that Havohej is putting something out this year, also Profanatica has a new EP out now which I have not heard yet.

Don't forget about Birth A.D. - "I Blame You".

New Summoning would be nice, if they're up to it.  The following was posted on a fan forum in late 2011:

Quote
I exhume this old topic to say that one of the reasons behind the delay is that Silenius had an heart attack. I read it only a few days ago, but it apparently happened this summer. The news was also on a german metal zine called Legacy, who interviewed Protector. I didn't find the issue, but I found this pic of it: http://666kb.com/i/bwfj2xmvxivznzjko.jpg
For the not-german speaking people, the beginning of the interview sounds like this: There was a delay in providing to the zine some news about the duo and about the new album because "the colleague Silenius had an heart attack, and we absolutely don't have to underestimate that kind of health issues [= "there's nothing to joke about"]. Now as in the past the things are going very slowly", and "there are some new riff fragments and deeply elaborated songs, too. But some of the core ideas are still missing".

But I read somewhere that Silenius now feels better, and I think there's nothing more to worry about.

Will there ever be a new Gorguts?

I'm sure it will be the metalcore crap that Negativa was anyway. Why do all Canadian bands turn into the same bad metalcore band? Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, and Gorguts.

New Summoning would be great but I hope they don't rush it. It's going to be hard to top "Oath Bound."

New Sammath sounds promising to my ears, final product should be hot.

There are rumors of a new BEHERIT.

If this is true, it could be a total year of metal... I still listen to Engram on a regular basis.

That would be excellent. Beherit, Summoning, Demoncy and maybe one day KRAFTWERK and I will be happy.

NWN's output is huge but the Embrace of Thorns and upcoming Ignivomous are really worth checking out.

I'm sure there will be some good albums in 2012 but will they be good enough to listen to them instead of the classics? It's like the new autopsy album. It was good but I don't want to listen to it more than a few times because I already "have mental funeral" wich is superior.
