Why I culled the art thread

Why I culled the art thread

Things like this ruin a forum.

With such a thread, you're picking art not by what it is, but by who made it (members of a forum).

That throws quality out the window. Pick by quality, not social factors.

You also create a monster no one can regulate.

What do you do if someone posts something horrible?

You can be an asshole and say, "Wow, that's fucking autistic."

You can politely nod and ignore. This tacitly endorses it.

Or you can lie and say, "That's really.... in-ter-es-ting."

Better just to avoid it. Kill the thread. They sure are popular though.

What's the point of having a forum?

Strangely, and almost (paradoxically) disgruntlingly, the quality of postings seems to have suddenly increased as of late. (Of course I suspect internal collusion.)

I liked that thread. Conservationist you're pretty heavy handed with this business (including thread/post moving and merging).

I knew you would delete my post so I screen-capped it. I am a petty man, but you must admit: that shit was FUNNEH.

Quote
People who come to a site to discuss their own entertainment are inherently selfish and shallow.

I'd suggest that the admins actually take the time to read what's being posted here (when naysayers are absent).

My question was intended as a discussion point to be taken literally. However, if these comments seem unproductive to people here, I won't push the matter.

I suppose it's so that we can have an easily accessible forum (... the word is what it is, dude) for the discussion of the ideas espoused by this site and its affiliates...?

There are always creepy people in any forum, they live in basements and attics. On the internet they are sometimes popular. If it's democratic and up for a vote. I vote that this forum attract people who are successful in real life, not weirdos.
but i'm not sure if i can tinkle in front of a crowd.

I think we should require credit reports of all users. Anyone with sub-par scores will be banned from the forums.
I don't know about you guys, but I love my under-120s. They're so cute and funny. Just yesterday one stole my GPS unit and another one took a dump in my yard. Ha ha, they're such cards.

You might as well just log me out then. Then again a lot of douchebags have perfect credit even if they're poor.

Art threads can reveal a lot about your userbase. They are basically a honeypot for autism.

So basically, the userbase here is not mature and impartial enough to offer sensible critique?

That would appear to be about the size of it.
Egomanic children with a sprinkling of talent, a dash of detachment, and a hint of responsibility.
Served with a sprig of maturity.
Oh, and a sign outside, that proclaims:
"Under New Management".

Is a decent forum for criticism of the technical aspects of drawing/painting.
