When nothing matters

When nothing matters
April 23, 2012, 01:42:07 PM
This is why I'm a nihilist. Nothing matters. The universe is empty, if there's a God he applies after death only. Nothing matters when everyone gets paid the same amount (socialism) or when kiss asses get paid more (capitalism). Nothing matters when Justin Bieber is more popular than Summoning. Nothing matters when anything great we do, will be either made into a cheaper plastic version at wal-mart, or be forgotten when a new movie comes out. Nothing matters. I have stopped giving a shit long ago , it's better than false hope, but I have also lost all hope.

This sounds more like cynicism than Nihilism.  Nothing matters - great, now what?

In the absence of external meaning, we have to generate our own meaning(s) in life.  Nihilism leads to Existentialism or Fatalism - take your pick.

I derive meaning externally. Does that mean I'm a fatalist, or just not actually a nihilist?

Probably both. But I liek burmsuzm so it's ok.

The devaluation entropy stops when the woodchippers begin to feed and only then.

It means you haven't yet seen that there is neither external, nor internal.
When you digest the reality that everything that exists is one thing, with yourself a part of it, things gain a clarity formerly lacking.

If you derive meaning externally, do you even exist?

I reckon it should be necessary for people to be led through epistemic skepticism and nihilism/existentialism before they can post on these boards, seriously.

Life: a span of time to do interesting things that result in beauty.

Death: reversion to a monist state.

Sodomy: the goal of all internet.

Can you believe what you wrote?
Seriously?
What use, or fun, or value, would a forum be, or have, if it only had one member?
Why would a 'nihilist' use a forum, anyway?

What use is a group of the most intelligent and best educated Scientists within a certain field coming together to discuss their findings?

What use is a group of the most inspired and most talented Artists within a certain medium/genre coming together to discuss their creations?

What use is a group of part-time thinkers with a unified base understanding coming together to discuss their ruminations?

Arguably, given Nihilism, none of this is useful.  Nothing is useful.  Nothing is.

Nothing.

What if I say nothing matters because matter is nothing.

When nothing matters anymore because what matters to some matters not at all to others causing open conflict upsetting the peace which we must stop at all costs because commerce which is all that we can now permit ourselves to have in common would be at risk then primacy before all other considerations is shifted over to individual feelings and whos are most in jeopardy at the moment, according to what is claimed.  We then retreat into puzzlement about why conflict continues unabated.
