Expression of mental illness or the extension of consciousness?

Can't it be both?

We should make a conscious to avoid false dichotomies.

It's bad when the word Art is understood as a bunch of stuff scattered in a room with "artful" stuff. Or street performance. Not that there is not art involved in those, but think Martial Arts and get a whole new meaning of the word Art. When properly done I think it can be divine even, but not to be taken as an end in itself.

To give a majestic example of true Art, when you not think of a bunch of paint scattered but of real things... Religious Art. Religious Art is just too true to be ignored.

The world of art has turned into an ego masturbatorium.
