Hardangervidda hits me in that way that most ambient albums fail to do. I think it's because of Vidar's rooting in the aesthetic and the symbolic via Black Metal that translates into his keyboard work. Also, I prefer the midi-Sound, whereas these days I've heard people complaining about it left and right. There's something of the fantastical about the tone of the midi, that reminds me of the 80's, of childhood and maybe video games that dealt with fantasy topics. I'd like to hear a return to this angle of keyboard players.
