Bathory?

Forgot the 80's list as I tend to separate the two era's of Black Metal. Its up there now though.

I respectfully disagree with your "best of" list.

I always considered most 80s material as a genre of its own. Early Sepultura, Possessed, Kreator, Celtic Frost etc are no more death metal than they are black metal. Good effort with the chronological list by the way.

I respectfully disagree with your "best of" list.

It is not a "best of" list. Its a list of greats, goods, potentials, averages,(trying to weed out the lower and middle end of this spectrum) and the historically important.

I haven't fleshed out the 80's list yet. Anything else I need to add?

Well i would at the very LEAST put Rrröööaaarrr in there for 86'.  I think it is their best output personally but everything else up to Dimension Hatross is gold, including their debut as well.

Thank you for making this list; it's really interesting to see albums situated historically in relation to each other, and it helps in a disciplined exploration of the genres.

I'm puzzled by your choice to include average bands.
Am I the only one who has never heard of Furbowl, Dr. Shrinker, Krabathor, or Lepra?
This is a lifetime of material to hear!

I'm a big fan of their first one and Killing Technology as well!  8)

Way too many unimportant releases but I always like the idea of cataloging the canon.
